Re: Greetings, I just acquired the rights from Tim to remake
I've recently obtained permission from Tim Sweeney and Epic to remake ZZT and publish it on Steam. This is fascinating news! I'm really excited to see what you will come up with. I think it's a fool's errand to attempt to make it compatible with all ZZT worlds and still have the features you are lo...

Re: Lyon
Picked this back up now that I have a good sense of direction again. I think by now a ZZT emulation is not as valuable as a good editor with mouse support. Still, I want to have facilities for better debugging ZZT games during development. We're almost done with moving to IoC+OpenTK. I'm really back...

Re: BANG! revival
This may (or very well may not) be of interest to some, but I recently wrote a blog post about a Zem! X remake in Bang! that never really got off the ground that I, WiL, and adv were all working on like 14 years ago. http://whatnot.bombdotcom.net/unfinished-game-zem-for-bang/ This is a really cool ...

Re: ZZT Ultra
I'm never really a fan of DosBox atrocious emulations either and rather play on Windows XP(which I no longer have), or FreeDos(which I haven't used yet), or ZZT clones that could at least come close to the actual way the engine works. Dosbox throws away tight and accurate timing left and right, whi...

Re: ZZT Ultra
The spec for WebAudio is very thorough and awesome, but implementation in current browsers is really lacking. Someone cobbled together a synth, but the latency was like 150ms+. That kind of latency doesn't really fly in games.

Haha, my cameo reference was a large red "dragon". I remember submitting that *years* ago. I'd love to change it, but that thing is pretty immortal by now.

Re: ZZT Ultra
SDL is a great way to go. It's wildly compatible and there are bindings that work on pretty much every platform.
Edit: In response to SmileyMZX, we've been able to get Roton on Win/Osx/Linux, so long as we avoid DirectX :) Mono+OpenTK works wonderfully for us.
