Possible solution to the movement dilemma: Use a sort of 'inward spiral' series of walks (:thud -> #walk ccw flow) so that they all naturally flow into place? or something?

Can you make it by default load games not made with your editor with custom water effects "off"? That'd be helpful. :)

Here's something that might be useful in Quine-land; has anyone ever hex-edited around to make an object pushable?

ZZT is not maxed out.

There are many things that haven't really been done in ZZT before.

Pick a new challenge, and make it happen.

That's why I don't like MZX as much; the limits give ZZT character, especially if you can devise some way to break them.

Hey, better than my first ZZT game. :) Just make a conscious effort at developing your skills, and your games will only continue to improve.

If only we knew who the maker of Sid's Disaster was! Three cheers would be offered! ..Re: Forest of ZZT - I think it got mentioned on the first page? I know because I downloaded it based on his recommendation. It had some really interesting layouts, but the engine killed it a bit for me. I ended up ...

One thing I've noticed in KevEdit is that there are fewer options for background colors than foreground; What's the nature of this limitation? Maybe it's just me, but I don't rmeember that being the case with toolkits in the olden days.

Are there any disadvantages to using KevEdit? Or anything at all I'd want to use the regular editor for?

By "increase your intelligence" you mean as if it were a stat? A thought: Make it so there are certain things you have to do - get open a locked door, hack a computer panel, etc. etc. depending on your world setting - that leave you vulnerable. Assuming the player's the one moving around a...

To your knowledge, has anyone done a truly nonlinear ZZT sidescroller before?

Sid's disaster was nonlinear in that you had two routes you could take (We should have a lovefest for that game, it's well deserved), but I'm talking literally being able to go back and forth between one board and another.

Which editor to use for standard ZZT?

KevEdit or ZZTAE? I assume the two are largely similar, so what's the marginal advantage of each?

Even if programming isn't your forte (It isn't mine, either!), it would be pretty easy to code. Basically, you'd add another option to the inventory menu: Something like > "Where should I be looking?" When the player hits that option, it does a #send all:sparkle And each object you might w...

Fun fact: I invented the ZZT inventory engine (I think). ;p My only claim to fame! One improvement to the traditional inventory engine that I'd like to see someone do, if your game allows for it - a clear way of letting people know which objects are at all affectable by inventory objects and which a...
